Celebrate Black History Month With Storyline Online & These 6 Video Stories!

As we kick off Black History Month and gather wonderful resources for our students, I have a special one to share with you.

Storyline Online has six special videos just for Black History Month on their site.  You will find these featured at the top of the home page here.

If you haven't been to Storyline Online, this is from their site...

Storyline Online streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more.

Storyline Online receives over 100 million views annually from children all over the world.
Storyline Online is available 24 hours a day for children, parents, caregivers and educators worldwide. Each book includes supplemental curriculum developed by a credentialed elementary educator, aiming to strengthen comprehension and verbal and written skills for English-language learners.
Take a look at the videos featured for Black History Month...
You will find an Activity Guide for teachers and parents under each video too.
These are filled with ideas for....
 reading, writing and...
across the curriculum activities.
You will find dozens of wonderful books in the Storyline Online Library here too.

I would share Storyline Online with my students and school community in a variety of ways.  We would watch the stories together as a big group in the library and classrooms; small groups would watch them for projects and assignments; and students would love to visit these individually when looking for something to listen to during their personal reading time.

I would also send a link home to Storyline Online with my students so families could listen to the stories together.  I created a little card with a QR code and the link.  I put it on our library Symbaloo too.  You could also add it to your library Collection by Destiny for students to find online.

Enjoy celebrating Black History Month in February, friends.  Using these books and many more, we can bring stories and history to life for our students and community in so many ways.
